UACS continues to go from strength to strength, as it clocks up the years, overcoming many barriers along the way in its quest to sustain its services.
This year marked the 37th anniversary of the organisation.
We continue to maintain strong links in the community, working in partnership with several organisations, to develop new services as well as improve the quality of our existing services.
The financial resources received from our grant providers, during the year have been effectively employed, and I am pleased to say going forward our financial future looks much brighter than anticipated for this year.
Funding
Although the grant received this year from London Borough of Ealing one of our main funders for our luncheon club represents less than 25% of the previous year I am pleased to say that through hard work and determination we were able to secure funding to carry out the older people project for a further 3 years. To fund projects for the elderly.
Continuous Improvement
We are constantly striving to sustain customer satisfaction and provide an excellent service to our users by ensuring that we have the following in place: Adequate Quality Assurance System, Good governance, PQASSO (Practical Quality Assurance System for Small Organisation Investing in Volunteers (IIV), Accreditation for providing Supported Housing services for young single homeless people and the Framework for assessing Customer Satisfaction.
To help us to progress these standards we have employed a Services Manager in November 2007, for some time, thanks to a grant from the Ealing and Brentford Consolidated Charity, to whom we are very grateful.
Floating Support scheme for African/Caribbean & Ethnic Minority Community older people (FACEM) three of these projects are fully operational and represent good value for money. Unfortunately, the .' FACEM is operated on a voluntary basis through lack of funds.
Activities
We have for the first time worked with London Transport Museum Community Curators on two projects, one called 'What's Cooking' where members design recipe cards and participate in practical cooking, and the other 'Simple Surfing for beginners' which was an introduction to the internet for several of our members.
Thank You
The Executive Committee, staff and volunteers, as always, have been resolute in their effort to adequately meet the needs of our users. I am thankful to everyone, for their continuing dedication and commitment together with their wealth of experience and diversity to lead the organisation forward. My sincere thanks to all our supporters without whom this event would not have been possible.
